Elsewedy Cement Company (ESCC) currently produces three main types of cement products.
1- Portland Cement: CEM I 42.5 N
Portland cement is general purpose used cement is the basic building material for construction of buildings and civil engineering works. It is suitable for all uses where the special properties of other type are not required such as Sulphate resistance. Major use of Portland cement include but not limited to reinforced concrete structures, bridges, dams, railway structures, roads, tanks, reservoirs, pipes, floors, pavements, sidewalks and masonry units. It is available in bags (50 kg/bag) or in bulks. It is produced according to the Egyptian standards ES 4756/1-2013 and European Standard EN 197-2011.
2- Portland Sulphate-Resisting Cement: CEM I-SR 5
Sulphate-Resisting Cement is applicable in concrete that might be exposed to severe Sulphate attack that might be mainly from soils or water. It is specified with low Tricalcium Aluminate (C3A) content, generally less than 5.0%. It is can be used as main building material in all concrete constructions such as reinforced concrete foundations, sewage drainage tanks and bridge foundations which are exposed to be directly affected by Sulphate . It is very useful to be used in sewage concrete pipes and lining steel pipes used for the same purpose. It is available in bags (50 kg/bag) or in bulks. It is produced according to the Egyptian standard ES 4756/1-2013 and the European Standard EN 197-2011.
3- Portland Cement: ASTM TYPE II
TYPE II cement is a type of Portland cement that generates moderate quantity of heat of hydration. It is highly recommended concrete elements of large cross sections (mass concrete) to reduce cracks generated from release of heat of hydrated cement. It also can be used in concrete exposed to the media seawater or marine environments for moderate Sulphate and chloride ions resistance. It is available only in bulks. It is produced according to the American standard ASTM C150 – 2016.
